Sulfide in Soil - PT is a soil/hazardous waste proficiency testing material, suitable for testing sulfide analyte in soil samples. Our soil PT samples behave as real samples; and, unless there is no alternative, are not simply spikes added to a blank soil. Preparation Note

Description The PT sample contains acid-soluble sulfide. A fortifying spike and a blank soil are provided. The PT sample has been sterilized. The evaluation of results will be based on study statistics for equivalent methods. This sample is not suitable for reactive cyanide/sulfide methods.Preparation Instructions The soil is to be extracted and analyzed using an appropriate extraction and analytical method for sulfide, assuming a 25 g sample will contain sufficient sulfide for determination. Sulfide is temperature and light-sensitive. Minimize contact to these conditions. The sample has been buffered to stabilize sulfide. Some methods may require a pH adjustment to 7 prior to analysis. Weigh 25 g of the blank soil and place in an extraction vessel. Open the ampule and add 10 mL of solution directly to the blank soil. The sample is now ready for immediate analysis. In the PT Portal, please list the determinative technique used for the analysis of this sample. Report your results based on 25 g of soil, as mg/Kg of soil. Do not correct the analytical results for matrix spike recovery bias.
